Trauma & PTSD Support Group

What day, time and where is it held?

Please check with me if the support group is face-to-face or online via Zoom

When: Thursday

Time: 2 pm - 4 pm

Who is the group for?

The group is for people who have been through trauma and suffer from PTSD and don't know how to move forward, feeling stuck and can't move past whatever it was that turned their world upside down.

It helps people with PTSD in the following ways

  • Mental health / Wellbeing
  • Buddy system
  • Learn new skills
  • Loose isolation
  • Helps by starting with improving interaction
  • work on their social skills
  • Meet new people
  • taking that first step to change
  • Help integrate ex-military/army back into the civilian world, by mixing with others in the group

What good will it do coming to the group?

We look at what your “feelings” that you go through daily and work through a different feeling each week.

They range from

  • Depression
  • Anger
  • panic attacks
  • low mood
  • anxiety
  • Fear
  • etc.

Why should I come to your group and not just go to the doctors as they can give me medication?

I'm not a doctor I can't give out medication but I can listen and I understand what it’s like to be in a position where there isn't any help around and don't know where else to go, this is another reason why I started up this group.

Takes pressure off doctors & NHS counselling waiting lists or just another form of help until you can access them.

What will I gain from coming to the group?

You will learn about what is going on within yourself such as

  • To help educate about PTSD,
  • Learn ways of coping
  • How the brain works the way it does after a traumatic event.
  • Sleeping habits
  • Drinking habits
  • Eating habits
  • Addiction
  • Hyper-vigilant (being on guard all the while)
  • Easily startled - being very jumpy
  • meeting others going through the same

How much?

It costs £5 for the 2 hours for the session, this goes towards room hire, worksheets, and refreshments.

Why do I have to pay for the group?

For the military, at the moment I am looking for some funding to pay for the room hire as I don't work for anyone I rent a room, and if I don’t get enough people coming I have to pay out of my pocket, and it needs to also cover the items I need for the group such as paper, ink, tea, coffee, etc.

How many are there in a group?

Kettering = 4 - 6 people

I hope this has answered some of your questions if you have any other questions please send me a message.

Please note

If you are interested in coming along to the group you need to contact me first, as its a closed group and I need to know you are coming along for numbers as its a smal group.

Review about the Trauma & PTSD support group

"Being able to go to the support group, where others get you, having support from Nikki, and help us move forwards and learn what is happening through worksheets, drawing and not feeling isolated, learning new ways of coping. Making new friends even at my age, and having someone I can talk to when the group isn't on. Thank you for making this possible." S....
