What is counselling?

There are different styles of talking therapy.

  • person centred, 
  • psychodynamic,
  • IAPT usually through the NHS,
  • solution focused,
  • DBT,
  • RBT
  • ACT
  • Cognitive Behavioural therapy,
  • trauma focused 

There are a few others styles, it just depends on the type you are looking for.


Then there is finding the right counsellor for you, do you get on, could you tell this person all you need to without feeling like there is a pressure, could you build a therapeutic relationship


Once you have found the right counsellor for you, you can work with them to start building a professional relationship.


I'm a person-centred counsellor which looks at you as a whole person and what is going on for you. I use different modalities in the way I work to fit each of my client’s needs, such as solution focused, CBT, Trauma Focused, art therapy. 


Counselling with me is one to one, face to face I accept you as you are. Having someone to talk to that isn't related or a friend can be a hard and thought provoking, but also a breath of fresh air. Having


I try to see the world through your eyes, in us working together we will spend a lot of time explore what is going on for you in your life.

I offer a safe space, warm, confidential and free from judgement, where it allows you to discuss what it is you are having difficulties with "a lot on your plate". It can feel overwhelming and frustrating because everything has been locked away for so long and you don't know where to start.


I have helped many unique individuals with all sorts of minor to complex needs. I know when you start counselling that it can feel nerve - racking until you have started talking, the build-up leaves you with all sorts of sensation and feelings that you will not be able to handle them, I am here to help you work through those feelings, making it easier to handle.


You are the expert of your life (you just don't know it yet).


Counselling is far from "one pill fixes all", counselling is a way to off load and I am here to make sure you are happy and comfortable within our professional relationship.

Are there a set amount number of sessions?

I don't set a number of sessions, as there could be a lot that you bringing with you and we would need to build a therapeutic relationship we will work at your pace and after 6 sessions we will review to see how you think the sessions are going.
