Military to civvi street.

In my line of work, I hear a lot about military, helping now ex-soldiers, ladies and gents leaving the army, navy etc. I have sat face to face, 1:1 in a room listening to the lasting effects from leaving the army, and trying to get back into chivvy street with us civilians.

But it’s a lot harder than it looks, due to going through rigorous training to join up, but what they don't do is to help them become untrained to come out of their chosen career choice, and what should seam easy is anything but easy.

Different life changing incidents, some good experiences about how they had a routine that was good for them.

The friends they made and traveling the world and trying new things.

But on the flip side they were serving our country and they witnessed some horrific sights, sounds and even came close to death.

Traumatic incidents that the eyes can't be unseen, the smells that can't be unhailed and the sounds they can't be unheard.

They experience the after effects of trauma, leaving them having

Difficulty falling or staying asleep.

Hypervigilance

Irritability

Anger or aggressive behaviour

In constant fear or guilt

Physical reactions to the event, pounding heart, feeling sick, muscle tension and sweating.

Reduced tolerance to noise

Difficulty concentrate.

Easily brought to tears

Panic attack, anxiety, depressed, mood swings

Tense muscles

Turning to drink or drugs to dampen the memories.

Some professionals have told them they can't help due to being too vulnerable.

Some try committing suicide, occasionally they are caught before they succeed.

But the ones I've spoken to have been grateful to get some help but not without going through the doctors, to be told there’s a waiting list.

I'm here to help anyone that has fallen through the net, on endless waiting lists

Being able to offer some help and support not only on a 1:1 but also in one of my trauma & PTSD support groups.

I'm looking at setting up a military to civilian trauma & PTSD support group.

We are human too!
